Lighting is very important when it comes to photography. Too much light can cause the picture to look white, not enough light can cause the photo to look dark. Lighting can also make a difference on the texture. The shadowing of the object can give an object a 3D look. In this photo, the light is brighter on half of the object and darker on the other, which gives it an illusional 3DÂ look.
