In the edited photo I changed the contrast of the photo and the highlights. I did this because it makes the dog stand out and the details in the dogs hair stand out. I also cropped the image a little to get rid of excess background material. I changed the exposure and shadow effect on the photo to give the image a 3D look to it.

Lighting is very important when it comes to photography. Too much light can cause the picture to look white, not enough light can cause the photo to look dark. Lighting can also make a difference on the texture. The shadowing of the object can give an object a 3D look. In this photo, the light is brighter on half of the object and darker on the other, which gives it an illusional 3D  look.
