Conceptual Self Portraits

What does conceptual mean? Conceptual is when something has something to do with the mind.  Conceptual self portraits are photos that define the photographer, by what they like and things about them, without showing what they look like or do with their life. Conceptual portraits are object placed in a certain order to help define what the photographer would be like of you met them. Conceptual portraits capture an idea using props and other items to show a specific picture.

In my photos, I didn’t use people to capture the image of what I like and who I am, but I used different objects to express myself. I used the measuring cups and spoons to identify the fact that I like to cook, and used the background of spices and knives to tell that baking and cooking are two different things and cooking is more enjoyable. The photo with the piano identifies the fact that I enjoy playing it. Without even telling you, you can see by the image that the photographer likes the piano by the way the keys and inside frame stand out. Essential Oils are very useful. By taking a picture of these, somebody might think that photographer likes nature, or is affected by the benefits of nature. Essential Oils are a great way to describe the way someone feels about the environment around them. Gum can tell many things. It can tell the story about if someone is stressed, it can tell if someone has high anxiety. Gum is a way to tell a story about someone’s lifestyle, if they lead a life of stress or if their life is calm. Every object looked at today, can tell the story of how someone’s personality is. Different arrangements and lighting can the change the objects perception and created a whole new story.
